City Of Las Vegas Extends Soccer Stadium Talks For Another 6 Months

The Las Vegas City Council is still hoping to replace Cashman Field with a soccer stadium to house a team from Major League Soccer.

On Wednesday, the council extended by another six months the window for negotiations with a developer who has expressed interest in building the stadium, along with some commercial and residential property around it, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

There have been two extensions of the negotiations since June 2019.

The city sees a 25,000-seat soccer stadium as the key to redeveloping the area north of downtown.

The city has been interested in an MLS expansion team for years. It missed out last year when the league went from 24 to 30 teams, and no plans to expand further have been announced.
