Nevada Senate Approves 'Craigslist' Bill

The Nevada Senate unanimously approved a bill yesterday that requires cities to designate safe spots where people can complete Craigslist purchases.

Assembly Bill 297 was sponsored by Assemblywoman Sandra
Jauregui, and requires county and city governments to establish at least one sheriff’s office or police department as a “Safe zone” where people can meet to finish online purchases.

It doesn’t require that law enforcement staff such sites, but supporters of the measure said the mere proximity to law enforcement locations will deter crime. The bill now heads to Governor Brian Sandoval for his review.
