Heat Intensifies On Raiders, Stadium Authority Lease Agreement

NFL owners have set a May 23 soft deadline for the Raiders and the Las Vegas Stadium Authority to approve a lease negotiation to construct and open a 65,000-seat domed stadium.

That date is when league owners gather in Chicago for their spring meeting, and the Raiders move is something they hoped to iron out before the fall. If the two sides can’t come to terms on the 30-year lease and a draft agreement is not sent to the owners, it isn’t clear what might happen, but the Raiders and the authority already faced a tight timeline for other documents in the lease by the end of September.

The schedule will ultimately result in the stadium opening in June 2020, in time for NFL season.
