Higher Ed Funding Gets Boost From Lawmakers

The Nevada Higher Education system will get a boost in funding, after lawmakers signed a bill today that includes a double digit increase.

The state general fund support will increase by $131 million, for a total support of $1.2 billion to all seven campuses in the state for 2017-2019.

The funding, which was recommended by Governor Brian Sandoval, represents a 12 percent increase for the Nevada System of Higher Education.

Funding for the new UNLV Medical School would see general fund support go from $19.6 million this year, to $30.2 million by 2018.
