New Political Action Committee Aims To Prevent Sanctuary Cities In Nevada

Republican Nevada Senate Leader Michael Roberson is heading up a new political action committee that aims to get a measure on the 2018 Nevada ballot prohibiting sanctuary cities, according to a report in The Nevada Independent.

Prevent Sanctuary Cities, the group supporting the measure, assembled late last week.

Roberson didn’t release many details about the measure, which would change Nevada’s constitution, Monday but more information is reportedly coming soon.

State Senator Roberson has repeatedly voiced his disagreement with reducing state and local law enforcement’s participation in federal immigration policy.

Neither Reno nor Las Vegas has passed any resolution declaring itself a “sanctuary city.” Clark County and Washoe County also have not designated themselves as “sanctuary counties.”
