Fountainebleau Owners Must Cover Unfinished Hotel

The owner of the abandoned Fontainebleau hotel and casino plans to wrap part of the unfinished remnants of the building.

County officials said the blue and white wrap that will cover the bottom three stories of the 68-story building on Las Vegas Boulevard will cost an estimated $500,000.

The county approved the permit today, which requires work begin within 180 days. Construction on the $3 billion resort began in 2007 when the project halted amid the Great Recession. Carl Ichan bought the property out of bankruptcy for $150 million in 2010.
