Nevada Boat Loses Power In Winds

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities had to rescue more than 160 people after the large paddlewheel boat they were on lost power in heavy winds.

Reports say the Desert Princess, a triple-decked boat, lost power Tuesday afternoon on Lake Mead.

A park service spokeswoman says a distress call came in just after noon reporting the boat was in the southwestern end of the lake.

She says the boat had been drifting into other boats before officials pushed it toward the breakwater.

Crews put 60 people onto patio boats before they were able to restart the Desert Princess and pilot it back to the dock.

A crewmember was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and no other injuries were reported.
