With the new year come new laws in Nevada and 2017 means residents are allowed to smoke marijuana at home.
KSNV-TV reports that voters in November passed a measure legalizing possession of up to an ounce of pot and allowing people over the age of 21 to use it, but Nevada Highway patrol says they are enforcing strong laws against impaired driving.
Consumption is not allowed in public places and officials say it should only be done at home. Using pot in public is a misdemeanor that carries a fine of up to $600.
Marijuana will not be allowed at casinos or in hotel rooms.
