Las Vegas Considering Another Run At MLS Team

Las Vegas may be gearing up for another run at an MLS team.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports city council will explore spending money on a consultancy group with the end result of getting professional soccer to the area.

In 2015, members of the city council, including Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, pushed hard for a stadium to be built in Symphony Park.

That stadium would have been home to a Major League Soccer team, but the league did not award Las Vegas an expansion team during its most recent rounds of league reform.

New proposals for an MLS team pitch Cashman Center as a potential location for a stadium.

That, though, would be dependent on the Las Vegas 51s minor league baseball team making a move elsewhere, which has long been discussed
