Police say they'll be out in force both in uniform and undercover at Las Vegas' extravagant New Year's Eve celebration.
Law enforcement and local government officials held a news conference on Thursday to highlight a new county ordinance meant to keep the more than 300,000 expected visitors safe.
Glass bottles, backpacks, coolers, strollers and large bags are banned on the Las Vegas Strip from 6 p.m. Dec. 31 to 6 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Police say they'll warn people to put the items away, and will confiscate the items if their owners are being uncooperative.
Authorities say they're also ramping up efforts to keep vehicles out of pedestrian areas.
Las Vegas police are getting support from other police agencies as well as the FBI, National Guard and Secret Service.
