High Winds, Possible Floods, Snow On Tap In Northern Nevada

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for rain and wind that's expected to pound northern Nevada over the next couple of days.

The agency issued a flood watch as it expects intense rainfall today that could quickly raise river levels. Mountainous areas should get heavy snow, including one to three feet of accumulation above 8,000 feet of elevation and six inches to a foot between 7,000 and 8,000 feet.

The heaviest snowfall is set to come between 4 p.m. today and 1 a.m. tomorrow.

Forecasters are advising people to avoid travel if they can.
