Some CCSD Schools At Risk Of State Takeover

The Nevada Department of Education has announced nine Clark County School District Schools at risk of being taken over next academic year under the state-run Achievement School District.

The schools in question are:

  • Bailey Middle School
  • Brinley Middle School
  • Jerome Mack Middle School
  • Von Tobel Middle School
  • Orr Middle School
  • Cambeiro Elementary School
  • Fitzgerald Elementary School
  • Kelly Elementary School.

Schools taken over by the state are handed over to charter school companies and staff members are required to reapply for their positions.

The takeovers would come into effect before the 2017-18 academic year, with final decisions being made by this coming February.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
