Las Vegas police say a patrol officer fired several shots at a vehicle during a confrontation on a residential street, but didn't hit the teenage driver who's now jailed on an assault with a deadly weapon charge.
Records show that 18-year-old Daniel Prichard was being held Tuesday at the Clark County jail pending an initial court appearance where he's expected to have an attorney appointed to represent him.
Police say Prichard received minor injuries, but not gunshot wounds, during the shooting about 11:30 p.m. Monday east of downtown Las Vegas.
Capt. Shawn Anderson says the confrontation came in a cul-de-sac after officers found and approached an unregistered Honda Civic that failed to stop for an earlier traffic stop.
Anderson says the vehicle accelerated toward the officer who fired the shots.
