McCarran Sees Busiest September On Record

Officials in Las Vegas say the airport clocked its busiest September on record this year.

Transportation authorities said Thursday that more than 4 million people flew in and out of McCarran International Airport last month, a 7.3 percent increase over the same period last year.

The Clark County Department of Aviation says the nation's ninth-busiest airport has tallied 35.6 million passengers through September, putting it on track to beat last year's 45 million.

Domestic traffic saw the largest percentage increase, though international passages also ticked up a bit. Among airlines, low-cost, no-frills carrier Spirit saw the biggest percentage gain at 19 percent.

McCarran handled a record 48 million passengers in 2007.
