LAS VEGAS (AP) — One of the tightest Senate races in the country is drawing political heavy-hitters and floods of campaign cash to Nevada as both parties try to snag the seat being vacated by Democrat Harry Reid.
It's considered the only seat Republicans can realistically flip to their side in a year they're playing defense. With control of the Senate at stake, Reid's allies and enemies are pouring cash into the contest, with more than $42 million spent on TV ads so far.
Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto, a former Nevada attorney general, has been a slight underdog in polls. U.S. Rep. Joe Heck, her Republican opponent, almost always leads.
Heck has joined the avalanche of Republicans rescinding their endorsements of Donald Trump after a 2005 recording revealed Trump's use of predatory language about women.
