Inmate Dies At Clark County Detention Center

Las Vegas police say a county jail inmate has died following a fight with a cellmate.

Authorities say a corrections officer at Clark County Detention Center was conducting a routine inspection Saturday afternoon and found an inmate in his cell bleeding from his head.

Medical staff was called and the inmate was rushed to a hospital with multiple injuries.

He was pronounced dead.

Police investigators say evidence at the scene indicates the victim got into a physical altercation with 33-year-old Franklin Sharp, who is facing charges of attempted grand larceny and attempted burglary.

Sharp has now been re-booked for one count of murder.

Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased inmate.
