HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Police in Henderson are changing patrol practices in the wake of a shooting that killed three law enforcement officers in Baton Rouge.
The Henderson Police Department announced Sunday that all officers will patrol in two-officer units.
Chief Patrick Moers says there have been no credible threats made against Henderson police.
But he wants officers to patrol and respond to calls in pairs as a precaution.
Moers says officials will evaluate the need for two-officer units in the coming days.
A gunman opened fire Sunday morning on officers outside a store just a mile from Baton Rouge police headquarters.
Authorities say three officers died and three officers were wounded.
The suspected gunman was killed at the scene.
The shooting comes amid escalating tensions nationwide between the black community and police.
