TONOPAH, Nev. (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a letter containing a white powered substance and a note threatening an elected official was sent to the Nye County Clerk's Office.
The letter had been opened at the Tonopah office Tuesday afternoon and led authorities to evacuate the entire government complex. The Nye County Sheriff's Office says in a news release that testing on the white substance identified the material as corn starch.
Officials say those who had potentially been exposed to the substance were segregated and the government complex was evacuated as a precautionary measure.
