Cortez Masto Launches New Ad Campaign

Democratic Senate candidate Catherine Cortez Masto has launched a new ad highlighting her work on an anti-sex trafficking bill that unanimously passed the Legislature in 2013.

The commercial started running Wednesday in Reno and Las Vegas markets. Campaign officials didn't offer specifics on the cost, but said it was six figures.

Cortez Masto lobbied for the bill while serving her second term as Nevada's attorney general. It toughened penalties for people convicted of crimes related to sex trafficking and allowed courts to order traffickers to pay restitution to their victims.

The commercial features footage of Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval praising her work on the measure when he signed the bill.

Cortez Masto is running against Republican Rep. Joe Heck in a competitive race to replace retiring Sen. Harry Reid.
