A proposed solar power plant on Fort Mojave tribal land will be up for debate this week.
The Mohave Daily News reports a meeting will be held Thursday in Laughlin to talk about the proposed First Solar plant, which would be built on 2,800 acres of land currently used for agriculture.
Earlier this year, Southern California Edison said it would purchase the electricity the plant would produce for a 20 year span, if the plant ends up being built.
Officials say water from the Colorado River would be needed during the construction of the plant, but not thereafter.
The plant is projected to produce 332 megawatts of power.
