Court Dismisses Lawsuit From Sanders Supporters

Ahead of this weekend's Nevada Democratic convention, a court has thrown out a lawsuit from Bernie Sanders supporters.

The Las Vegas Sun reports the suit, which alleged the Nevada Democratic Party didn't notify supporters of a deadline to run for office, was dismissed.

The suit alleged members of the state Democratic central committee were able to run for re-election unopposed, apparently in violation of state law.

Judge Ronald Israel cited previous cases in his opinion, saying courts don't get involved in fights within political parties.

Additionally, the judge said state law allows for such a move to happen if a voice vote, rather than a formal vote, takes place

He also said there was a chance the convention itself could address the issue at the weekend, making a legal ruling moot.

Lawyers for the group bringing the lawsuit said they will not appeal.
