Authorities are looking for three men who went on a drunken shooting binge in Death Valley National Park, leaving behind beer cans, vomit and possibly killing one of the rarest fishes on Earth.
The National Park Service says the men climbed a fence guarding Devils Hole, a detached portion of the park located in southwestern Nevada, on April 30.
The Park Service says they fired a shotgun at least 10 times and one man swam in Devils Hole, a hot-water pool that is the only natural home of the tiny Devils Hole pupfish. The man left his boxer shorts in the water.
On Monday, authorities found a dead pupfish. Authorities will try to determine whether the men's actions killed it.
The Park Service is offering $5,000 for information leading to arrests.
