NV Hires New Education Official

Nevada has a new deputy superintendent of student achievement.

Brett Barley is filling that position, according to a release from the Nevada Department of Education Thursday.

Barley was previously a vice president for educational lobbying firm StudentsFirst, an initiative led by Michelle Rhee that pushes charter schools and education reforms nationwide.

He will serve under Nevada's superintendent, Steve Canavero.
