F1 Chief Floats Grand Prix In Las Vegas

Formula One's commercial chief Bernie Ecclestone says he's in discussions about bringing a grand prix to Las Vegas.

Speaking Friday from the Bahrain Grand Prix, Ecclestone said: "It is possible that there could be an event there," adding that the time "would be a couple of years I suppose."

Ecclestone said any proposed new race in the United States would not replace the existing U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.

"We will keep Austin and have another race," Ecclestone said.

Las Vegas hosted F1 races in the parking lot of the Caesars Palace casino in 1981 and 1982.
