Nevada prison officials say a 63-year-old inmate serving a sentence for kidnapping and attempted robbery with a weapon has died at a Las Vegas hospital.

The Nevada Department of Corrections reported that Gary Bernard Linzy died early Monday at Summerlin Hospital Medical Center.

A cause of death wasn't immediately disclosed. Officials say the Clark County coroner will conduct an autopsy.

Linzy had been serving a 2½-to-8-year sentence at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs following his conviction last September in Clark County District Court on second-degree kidnapping and attempted robbery with a weapon charges.

He had at least four other criminal convictions in Nevada since 1997 on charges also including conspiracy to commit battery, attempted theft and attempted burglary.
