NV Ethics Commission Dismisses Complaints Against NLV Mayor John Lee

The Nevada Commission on Ethics has dismissed complaints against the North Las Vegas mayor after a lengthy investigation.

Two North Las Vegas employees filed a 100-page complaint against Mayor John Lee in March 2015, accusing him of cronyism and engaging in a "reign of terror" at city hall. The Ethics Commission ruling issued Wednesday says Lee acted outside the scope of his office to influence hiring but such actions don't violate state law.

Ethics Commission Executive Director Yvonne Nevarez-Goodson says the commission can only look at conflicts of interest, which are narrowly defined by the law.

An initial ethics complaint was dismissed outright but an appeal sparked a new investigation.

Lee told KLAS-TV that the allegations are ridiculous.
