Tahoe Bike Path Has High Building Price

Lake Tahoe’s east shore could have a new bike path soon, but at a steep cost.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the trail would connect Incline Village to Sand Harbor State Park in Nevada. But the 3-mile project carries a price tag of $12.5 million - more than 4 million taxpayer dollars per mile.

The Nevada Transportation Department also plans to spend $7-to-$9 million in state gas taxes alongside the project for environmental and safety costs. Another $750,000 in private donations has also been raised for the path.
