Judge Refuses To Dismiss Civil Suit Against Darren Sharper

A Nevada judge refused Tuesday to dismiss a civil suit by a woman seeking hundreds of thousands of dollars from former NFL star Darren Sharper, who she says drugged and raped her in Las Vegas in January 2014.

Sharper pleaded guilty to reduced criminal charges in the woman's case a year ago and is in custody in Louisiana.

A federal judge there has rejected a plea agreement that would have gotten Sharper nine years in prison for sexually assaulting nine women in four states.

That's delaying sentencing in the Las Vegas criminal case.

A court spokeswoman and Sharper's attorney in Las Vegas said Clark County District Court Judge Jim Crockett dismissed one of four causes of action in the lawsuit filed in January by the woman, who lives in Massachusetts.
