UNLV Hosts Nevada In 2016 Regular Season Football Finale

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Nevada and UNLV will play their annual football rivalry game this year in the regular season finale in Las Vegas on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

The Mountain West Conference released the complete 2016 schedule on Wednesday, including the league championship set for Saturday, Dec. 3.

School officials on both Nevada campuses were upset last year when the conference scheduled the intrastate battle for the Fremont Cannon in the middle of the season. It was played on Nevada Day weekend in 2013 and was the season finale in 2014.

Last year, conference members voted to allow each school to request a specific date for one game. Nevada and UNLV both chose the season-ending matchup on Nov. 26. The week before, UNLV plays at Boise State on Friday and Nevada hosts Utah State Saturday.
