Police: Man Wounded By Las Vegas Officer Expected To Recover

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say a man who was shot by a Las Vegas patrol officer responding to a report of a person with a gun in a residential area is expected to recover from his wound.

Officer Michael Rodriguez said Tuesday the shooting happened about 8 p.m. Monday near Haven Street and Struzzo Avenue. That's several miles south of the Las Vegas Strip.

Rodriguez says the officer arrived to a report of a man pointing a gun at passing vehicles and shot the man when he failed to comply with commands to drop the weapon.

KLAS-TV reports the wounded man was shot in the shoulder, and that the gun turned out to be a replica.

Rodriguez said he had no immediate information about the gun. He says the injury wasn't life-threatening.
