17 Nevada Tribes To Get $15 Million For Affordable Housing

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Seventeen tribes in Nevada are receiving more than $15 million in federal funds to support affordable housing projects.

KRNV-TV reports that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development announced the grants Tuesday. The Indian Housing Block Grant allocations are made each year to eligible tribes or their tribally designated housing entity.

This year's Nevada recipients include the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, which will receive $1.3 million, and the Walker River Paiute Tribe, which will get about $2.3 million. Others receiving funding are the Las Vegas Tribe of Paiute Indians and the Paiute Shoshone Tribe.
