Nobody Hurt After Small Fire At McCarran

Authorities say no one was hurt after a small fire broke out at the Las Vegas airport's baggage claim area.

The Clark County Fire Department responded to the electrical fire at McCarran International Airport about 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Airport spokesman Chris Jones says the small fire happened on the carpet and was cleared with a fire extinguisher on hand before firefighters arrived.

Authorities say it was caused by an electrical cord that shorted in an area of the Terminal 1 baggage claim that has been closed off to the public for floor replacement.

No one was hurt and there was no damage to the structure.

The airport wasn't evacuated and its operations weren't disrupted.
