The Laughlin/Bullhead City International Airport looks set to acquire some new land.
The Mohave Daily News reports the facility is gearing up to buy a plot of land currently owned by the state of Arizona located south of the airport's current fire station and runways.
Airport officials say they're not looking to expand immediately, but want to purchase the land while property prices are low in order to prepare for future expansion.
At present, the airport is working on a project to extend its runway … at present, fences are being removed and roadways rerouted to make room for the longer tarmac.
Construction on that project is set to begin later this year.
Other renovations include upgrading parts of the air traffic control tower at the airport, and upgrading redundant power systems in case of power outages.
