Steven Urquhart, a Republican member of the Utah Senate from St. George, has announced his retirement.
The St. George Spectrum reports Urquhart said he does not plan on running for re-election this year, citing a desire to return to his practice as a lawyer and to increase volunteer work.
Before his election to the Senate, Urquhart served as a Utah state representative.
Potential successors are already starting to line up.
State representative Don Ipson said he plans to run for Urquhart's senate seat.
