Hearing Postponed In Case Involving Alleged Police Shooter

A preliminary hearing was postponed for a 38-year-old man accused of pulling a gun and shooting a veteran Las Vegas police officer during what investigators characterized as a chance encounter in an apartment complex.

Prosecutor Giancarlo Pesci said Wednesday that evidence was still being collected and provided to the defense in the attempted murder and battery case against Teag Lanier Fox.

A judge reset the date for Jan. 21.

Defense attorney Kyle Cottner didn't immediately respond to messages.

Police say 52-year-old Officer Gregory Sedminik is expected to make a full recovery after surgery for wounds to his arm and upper torso stemming from the Dec. 17 shooting south of the Las Vegas Strip.

Fox was arrested several hours later at a golf course community several miles away.
