GOP Consultant Dane Told He’s Target Of Grand Jury Probe

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A political consultant who's been accused of trying to bribe at least one Nevada lawmaker has been notified he's the target of a grand jury probe.

Attorney David Otto says his client, Tony Dane, received a target letter last week that indicates he could be indicted on criminal charges.

An investigation involving the robo-call business owner became public days before the Nevada Legislature convened on Feb. 1, when police served search warrants in Las Vegas and at a home Dane owned in Virginia.

Republican Assemblyman Chris Edwards said at the time that the investigation focused on an attempt to get him to change his vote for speaker, the top post in the Assembly.

Otto suggested Monday that the grand jury would indict anyone if the district attorney asked them to.
