Sheriff: Man Held Is Las Vegas Officer's Assailant

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo says that while the suspected shooter is in custody, more arrests could come from the investigation of the wounding of a patrol officer at an apartment complex south of the Las Vegas Strip.

Lombardo tells reporters that police are trying to figure out how the suspect slipped through a police cordon around the scene of the shooting and made it to the Southern Hills residential and golf community, more than three miles away.

Police Sgt. Jeff Clark says the man who was arrested is 38 and matches the description of the shooter. His name wasn't immediately made public.
