Nevada, San Francisco Close To Settling Patient Dumping Suit

The city of San Francisco and the state of Nevada are one step closer to settling a lawsuit regarding so-called patient dumping.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the San Francisco Board of Supervisors signed off on the $400,000 settlement late yesterday.

San Francisco mayor Ed Lee, and the San Francisco Superior Court, must also approve the deal before it is completely finalized.

The settlement comes after Nevada improperly shipped psychiatric patients from Rawson-Neal Psychiatric Hospital in Las Vegas to San Francisco between 2008 and 2013, despite patients not having any real ties to the city or any arrangements for them upon arrival to the Bay Area.
