Winter Weather Brings Snow To Elko, Rain To Northern Nevada

The winter storm that dumped up to a foot of snow on the Sierra is bringing record rainfall to parts of northern Nevada.

The National Weather Service says nearly an inch of rain — .86 — was recorded Monday at Reno-Tahoe International Airport and .67 of an inch at Winnemucca Airport about 160 miles northeast of Reno.

Ice and snow were also seen in Elko Monday.

The National Weather Service reports 1.6 inches of snow fell in the city Monday. According to the Elko Daily Free Press, the weather impacted travel along Interstate 80 and Emigrant Pass, causing westbound traffic to be stopped.

More snow is in the forecast through Thursday across northeastern Nevada.
