Reporter And Photographer Charged After Tussle With Tesla Guards

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno Gazette-Journal photographer has been charged with misdemeanor counts of trespassing and battery after an altercation with two security guards for Tesla Motors at an industrial park east of Sparks.

Storey County District Attorney Anne Langer also formally charged a Gazette-Journal reporter with trespassing on Wednesday in connection with the Oct. 9 incident. The newspaper's lawyer says the two were trying to leave when they were attacked by the guards.

Photographer Andy Barron initially was booked on suspicion of two counts of felony battery with a deadly weapon after the guards told investigators he drove a jeep into them. Langer reduced those to misdemeanor battery charges.

Barron's lawyer, John Arrascada, told the newspaper he intends to plead not guilty. The reporter, Jason Hidalgo, declined comment.

A pretrial conference is set for Feb. 4.
