Nevada 150 Exhibit Getting Permanent Home In Capitol

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A traveling exhibit celebrating Nevada's 150th birthday is getting a permanent home in the state Capitol.

Gov. Brian Sandoval held a ceremony on Tuesday afternoon to dedicate the display, which includes a custom sesquicentennial saddle, photos of the yearlong celebration and other memorabilia.

The exhibit is housed in Nevada's Old Assembly Chambers, but will eventually move to the Old Senate Chambers that were recently renamed "Battle Born Hall." The Senate Chambers are undergoing renovations.

Sandoval also unveiled a new incense cedar tree in front of the Capitol. The tree could grow to be 130-200 feet tall.

Nevada marked its 150th anniversary of statehood on Oct. 31, 2014. The celebration included hundreds of events throughout Nevada over the course of a year.
