Nevada Senate Republican leaders are endorsing the principal of a Henderson charter school for the Senate seat currently held by Democrat Joyce Woodhouse.
The caucus issued a statement Thursday endorsing Carrie Buck for Senate District 5. Buck is principal of Pinecrest Academy and spoke out during the legislative session in support of school choice measures.
She was previously a classroom teacher, an English Language Learner Specialist and a principal in the Clark County School District. Republican Senate Majority Leader Michael Roberson called her energetic and hard-working.
Buck's opponent will be Woodhouse, who is a retired teacher and principal serving her second term in the state Senate.
Republicans are seeking to retain their narrow 11-10 majority in the state Senate.
