Openings Set In Trial In Las Vegas Strip Shooting, Crash

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Openings are scheduled Thursday in a Nevada courtroom in the death-penalty trial of a self-described pimp accused of killing three people by shooting into a moving car and causing a fiery crash on the Las Vegas Strip.

Ammar Harris has pleaded not guilty to murder, attempted murder and felony weapon charges in the February 2013 incident that some witnesses compared with a scene from a Hollywood action film.

He's accused of mortally wounding the driver of a Maserati before the sports car slammed into a taxi that burst into flames.

The Maserati driver, taxi driver and a tourist from Washington state were killed.

Police say Harris and the aspiring rapper driving the Maserati had exchanged angry words at a casino valet following a hip-hop nightclub event at the Aria resort.
