State Unemployment Rate Declines Again

Nevada's unemployment rate has ticked down a fraction of a percent to seven-year low.

The state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reported Wednesday that Nevada's jobless rate was 6.7 percent in September. That's one-tenth of a percentage point down from August.

The news marks the 55th straight month that the unemployment rate has dropped year-over-year, and is the lowest rate since July 2008.

Gov. Brian Sandoval says he's pleased at the downward trend but says he'll continue to pursue opportunities to diversify Nevada's economy.

State officials say the number of unemployed people in Nevada is below 96,000 for the first time since August 2008.
