HILDALE, Utah (AP) — The search for the body of 6-year-old Tyson Lucas Black who was swept away by floods in a small polygamous community on the border of Utah and Arizona is expected to be scaled-back beginning Friday.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports Washington County's director of emergency services Pete Kuhlmann says a final highly-concentrated on-the-ground search was happening Thursday before the focus would shift for two days to several teams of trained dogs looking for human remains.
Kuhlmann says about 300 people volunteered Thursday and more than 100,000 cubic yards of dirt was moved. The county isn't seeking any volunteers after Thursday.
Black was with 16 women and children when a flash flood on Sept. 14 swept away the two cars they were riding in. Twelve members of two families were killed. Three young boys survived.
