LAS VEGAS (AP) — Ride-hailing company Lyft has received a business license to operate within Las Vegas city limits, even though its status with Clark County remains in limbo.
The company said it received its permit on Wednesday, about a week after it launched in Las Vegas. City spokesman David Riggleman said ride-hailing company Uber has also applied for a license and was expected to be approved on Thursday.
The city charges companies $150 plus a fee based on revenue.
The Nevada Transportation Authority voted last week to license Uber and Lyft to operate in Nevada. But there's disagreement about the types of regulations local governments can impose.
Clark County commissioners refused last week to give Uber and Lyft temporary licenses before a ride-hailing ordinance is deliberated in coming weeks. The companies launched anyway.
