CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt is asking Planned Parenthood entities in Nevada for details about how they conduct abortions.
The letter was dated Tuesday and sent to Planned Parenthood executives in Las Vegas and Reno. It notes allegations raised in a series online videos that some Planned Parenthood clinics sell tissue from aborted fetuses.
Laxalt says websites for clinics in Nevada indicate their only abortion procedures involve administering a pill that would terminate a pregnancy that's nine or 10 weeks along. He asks the officials to state whether they perform surgical abortions, and whether they participate in tissue donation programs.
Nevada Planned Parenthood officials didn't immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday.
Nevada Democrats called Laxalt's letter another attempt by the Republican attorney general to advance a partisan agenda.
