Victim Of Car Accident Near Elko Identified

A 62-year-old California man has died from injuries suffered in a crash over the weekend on Interstate 80 in northeast Nevada.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says Frederick Brooks of Sacramento ran into the back of a slow moving semi-trailer truck that was climbing a big hill near Emigrant Summit shortly after noon on Sunday about 30 miles west of Elko.

The patrol said in a statement Tuesday investigators have not been able to determine why Brooks didn't move into the passing lane and go around the westbound truck. They say there's no indication that he tried to hit the brakes.
