Controlled substances charges make up almost half of the 41 Burning Man arrests made by sheriff's deputies this year.
The Reno Gazette Journal reports the Pershing County Sheriff's Office arrested 41 people between Aug. 26 and Sept. 9, up from seven last year.
Jerry Allen took over for former Sheriff Richard Machado in January. He said he planned to take a more stringent approach to the massive event in the desert that draws thousands of attendees.
There were 19 charges for trafficking of a controlled substance and six for possession of a controlled substance, with others ranging from grand kidnap to battery on a public officer.
The Bureau of Land Management, which also provided law enforcement for the event, arrested no one.
Additionally, Burning Man organizers are considering legal action against sandwich chain Quiznos over a video ad that pokes fun at the festival.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reported that festival officials say the video is theft of the event's intellectual property.
Burning Man spokesman Jim Graham says the Denver-based Quiznos never reached out to them before putting out the advertisement.
The YouTube video parodies the upcoming movie, "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials," and portrays the characters frolicking and eating Quiznos at Burning Man in northern Nevada.
The video was posted last week and has been viewed more than three-quarters of a million times.
Representatives from Quiznos were not immediately available for comment.
According to Graham, the festival turns down multiple requests every year from companies wanting to show their products at the event.
