A judge is telling the new owner of a Las Vegas golf course to turn the water back on after residents took their complaints about the browning lawn to court.
KSNV-TV reports Ronald Richards of Southern California bought the Silverstone Golf Club course a week ago and shut off the water, drying out the grass and some lakes.
Residents hired a lawyer last weekend. Attorney Erika Pike Turner says a judge issued a temporary restraining order on Tuesday telling Richards to turn his water back on or be in contempt of court.
A hearing is set for Sept. 22.
Home Owners Association representatives told residents during a packed meeting Tuesday night that a binding agreement protects the Silverstone Golf Club.
Richards said in an email he plans to use the property in a way that is environmentally sound.
